“I very much enjoyed the time I spent learning at LUBS. Now I am studying to be a teacher myself at Kitwe Teacher Training College. I would like to come back and teach at my old school.”
Ireen Mwila, aged 23

Kaloko Trust supports education in Zambia by running a sponsorship scheme for three schools - Luansobe Upper Basic School, Kandulwe Community School and Kaloko Crèche.

Sponsorship money means that over 1000 children in the Luansobe area can receive an education, vital for the progress of an impoverished rural community.

The minimum monthly donation for the School Sponsorship Scheme is £15 to sponsor a class at Luansobe Upper Basic School or Kandulwe CS and £10 to sponsor the Kaloko Crèche. This is approximately what it costs per head to support these children in education.

We urgently need more sponsors. We have over 1000 children currently supported in education by Kaloko, but only 250 sponsors donating money. Sign up now!.

“Kaloko Trust has given me a great start in life. I graduated from Luansobe Upper Basic School in 1998, and I’m currently in my final year of a Diploma in Forestry at Kitwe University. I am grateful for the sponsorship scheme, and continue to correspond with supporters in the UK.”
Jonathan Malembeka, aged 26

"After starting as a sponsored child at LUBS I moved on to Chiwala High School where I received a three year scholarship from Kaloko.  I come from a local farming family and want to become a teacher. After leaving high school I worked on the farm for two years and am now planning to enter the University of Zambia in Lusaka to study Bachelor of Science in Education."
