Where
does the sponsorship money go?
Your support will be used to help provide essential
needs for Luansobe Upper Basic School and the Kaloko
Crèche. This includes such items as desks, books,
stationery and transport.
As the Government is unable to provide enough teachers, sponsorship
money is used to employ supplementary teaching staff at LUBS. It
is used to help provide and maintain essential infrastructure such
as classrooms and toilets, and to provide clean water for cooking
and washing, solar electricity for the library and housing for the
staff.
Sponsorship money is further used to support extra-curricular activities
such as clubs and sports.
Many children live too far away to walk to school each day and so
sponsorship money is used to provide and staff vital hostel facilities.
This includes the provision of food, and support for the school’s
own agricultural activities.
Sponsorship money is also used to support the scholarship programme
for students who go on to complete their secondary education at
other schools.
As crèche facilities are not a government requirement we
do not get government crèche staff. Donations for the crèche
therefore go to pay staff salaries, food, building maintenance and
learning materials.
We
welcome group sponsorship, especially from schools, as it gives
the children an opportunity to communicate and learn about each
other’s lives.
Can I choose whether I sponsor
LUBS, Kandulwe or the Crèche?
Yes. When you contact us initially please let us know your preference.
What
do I get out of sponsorship?
Sponsorship can make an enormous difference to a child’s life
by helping to provide them with an education and start in life that
means they have the opportunity to escape from the cycle of poverty.
You will be allocated a class for the duration of your sponsorship.
Three times a year - at the end of each term - you will receive
a school newsletter, together with letters and a photo from the
children in your class, and in the case of the crèche, drawings
and a photo. The class teacher will also write to let you know how
they are all progressing. We also send out our Annual Review to
our donors, so that you can catch up on the rest of our work.
